The marriage is threatened when the husband’s first love returns to town. The basic problem with this year’s PÖLP is that there were very few classic films shown, much less than those planned for PÖLP 2023. As a viewer, I have been shocked by the large number of new films that play with concepts and techniques in inexperienced hands, but whose stylish casings contain little revealing and refreshing pieces. The lack of classic and time-tested films therefore leads to a lack of spices for my nerves. However, among the new films, Out of Control, made by mature director Le Ny, stands out strongly as an established, engaging and emotionally complex tranquilizer.
