Originally set to be picked up by CBS for a series order in 2020, it was canceled shortly before filming the first episode due to COVID. It has now been picked up by Netflix for a 10-episode first season based on Mickey Haller’s second book, “The Brass Verdict.” Mickey Haller owns several cars, all with personalized California license plates with legal terms on them. California personalized plates allow a maximum of seven letters/numbers, but all of Mickey’s plates have at least eight.
I couldn’t have been more wrong
The Lincoln Lawyer was actually better than I expected. I’ve never read the books this was based on, but I did watch the Matthew McConaughey movie and thought it was pretty good, but not worth making into a series. I was really hoping it would be a low-budget rip-off.
In fact, I liked it more than the movie
I wasn’t going to watch it until I saw all the great reviews and that it was one of Netflix’s most-watched shows of the year. Manuel Garcia-Rulfo does a great job as the lead, and Becky Newton, Neve Campbell, Angus Sampson, and others all do fantastic work in supporting roles. While it’s not the best lawyer show you’ll ever see, it’s definitely worth watching.
